Plein Aire Painting - Indoors
Oil Painting
with
Barry Kooser

This workshop consists of the basic fundamentals of oil painting: close observation, composition, drawing, value, and color, which are the cornerstones to successful paintings, along with an emphasis on simplicity and a graphic approach that is essential.

We will work from a still life and from photos, so bring a small collection!

Barry was born December 23, 1968 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Graduating from Arvada West High School in 1987 with aspirations of becoming an artist, he attended the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1991. Barry was then accepted into a summer internship with Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios, Orlando, Florida in 1990. In 1992, he was hired full time as a Background Artist with Disney where he had the privilege of working on animated films such as The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch and was promoted in 2001 to Background Supervisor for Brother Bear. In 2004 Barry left Disney and returned to beautiful Colorado to pursue an independent fine art career in landscape painting. He is represented by Zantman Galleries in Carmel and Palm Desert, California. He now lives in Littleton with his wife, Brenda.
