Program: Critique with
Jeanne MacKenzie

Jeanne is a Colorado resident in the Fort Collins area where she is one of the founding members of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Teaching credential from San Diego State University. Her paintings are featured in several fine art galleries in Colorado, California, and Arizona, including Wild Horse Gallery in Steamboat Springs, CO and Scottsdale Fine Art in Arizona.

Jeanne's oil paintings are a blend of impressionism and realism, consisting of still lifes and western landscapes. She has earned many awards throughout the US, including the Oil Painters of America, CM Russell Invitationional, Arts for the Parks - Top 100 (award of excellence), and a recent Juror's Choice Award in the Salon International.

Jeanne has been featured in publications such as Southwest Art Magazine and International Artist Magazine, was included in the Richeson Art Series Book, and has been a finalist in the Artist Magazine Competition. She shares her love of art by teaching national painting workshops and has been on staff at the Denver Art Museum.

Jeanne will be giving a critique, so please bring one piece of your work that you would like some expert advice on. Hope you will join us!

A Huge Thank-You!

A very big "Thank-You" to Cal and Barbara Johnson! Everyone had a wonderful time at our annual potluck! Barbara and Cal are the most perfect hosts imaginable. The food was great, and Dori Nelson made two delicious and beautifully decorated cakes to celebrate MAG's 40th anniversary. Thanks to all for a very special evening!

Congratulations to Chuck Danford for being juried into the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibit! The show will be at Foothills Art Center in Golden from September 11 - October 31. More news on Chuck - MAG members are invited to the opening reception at the Great Western Art Gallery, 1455 Curtis St. in downtown Denver on September 3 from 6 - 9 pm where Chuck's work will be featured through September 28.

Congratulations to MAG members who were juried into the Arvada Fine Arts Guild's "Spring Exhibition" at the Arvada Center: Jan Archuleta (First Place), Karen Chandler, Sandra Danley, Miriam Ritter, and Carolyn Tegeder

Jan Archuleta will be having a One Woman Show Titled "Spirit Dwellings" at the Artful Things Gallery, 3918 Tennyson St., from June 4 - June 26. The artist reception is Saturday, June 12 from 3-5 pm. Jan would love to see some of her MAG friends at the reception or during the First Friday Artwalk on June 4 from 6-9 pm.

On July 6th, we lost a very dear friend, talented artist, and longtime MAG member Berta Peters. The Lakewood Arts Council, of which Berta was an active member, will have awards in Berta's memory at their upcoming "Fall Colors" show. I you would like to contribute to this memorial, please make a check out to Lakewood Arts Council and put "Berta Peters Memorial" on the memo line. For information, call Barb Tobiska.

About Mountainside Art Guild

Mountainside Art Guild is dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of artistic endeavors in visual fine arts including original painting, drawing, photography, collage, silk-screen, etching, sculpture, digital, etc.
 
Mountainside Art Guild is a Lakewood, Colorado-based group made up of artists ranging from the amateur to the professional.  It was first organized in 1970 by a handful of dedicated artists and has since grown to become one of the most active art groups in the Denver metropolitan area.

 
Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  Meetings consist of a short business meeting, a drawing for the "Lucky Artist," and a program (demonstration, critique, or presentation).

Officers are elected at the annual meeting each November and include the President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, and all special Chairmen.
